The Battle Lake School will be working with Children’s Dental Services to provide dental care to children in the school setting.
The purpose of Children's Dental Services is to provide communities like ours with dental care that may be difficult to come by. Distance, long wait times for an appointment, or clinics not accepting your dental insurance are large barriers to navigate when finding dental care.
The clinic will be set up right on site in the Battle Lake school so no transportation needs to be provided. Parents do not need to be present for the appointment. A consent form will need to be filled out prior to the clinic day. Children will be scheduled throughout the school day to provide minimal absence from school for dental care. The clinic is open to ALL students.
The cleaning, exam, and any restorative care are not free of charge. However Children's Dental Services accept all dental insurances, including medical assistance. They also provide a sliding fee scale for reduced cost of services for copays or for individuals that do not have dental insurance. To discuss the sliding fee scale you can reach Children’s Dental Services at 612-746-1530.
To have your child seen for an exam and hygiene care just fill out the consent form and return it to school. Please fill out and send back the consent form with your student. If you need a paper copy sent home, please reach out to the school nurse and a paper copy will be sent home with your student. Forms need to be returned as soon as possible, and no later than November 27th.
If you do not want your child seen by Children’s Dental Services you do not need to do anything.
If you need assistance filling out the form or have questions about the program please feel free to call the school nurse (Jen, 218-862-4609) or stop in the nurse office any time during school hours.. The clinic day will be held December 20th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
